MIDDLE EAST CONFERENCE ON GOVERNANCE

The Association for Middle Eastern Public Policy and Administration (AMEPPA) and ASPA's Section on Effective and Sound Administration in the Middle East (SESAME) will host the 3rd Global Conference on Public Policy and Administration in the Middle East at the University of Beirut December 5-6, 2014. The theme for this year's conference is Public Sector Governance In the Middle East: The Design and Management of Reform (Re)Considered. To learn more, click here.


 

10th INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION (ICPA)


Tentative Schedule Now Available

A tentative schedule of events for the 10th International Conference on Public Administration (ICPA) is now available online. To view, click here. ICPA will be held Oct. 24-26 in Chengdu, China at the UESTC (Qingshuihe Campus). The theme for the 2014 conference is New Challenges and Advances in Public Administration. Organizers are currently accepting proposals that would address this theme. Registration is now open, to learn more, click here.

ASPA RELEASES NEW RESOURCE ON PUBLIC POLICY ISSUES

ASPA has released a new resource that shares critical and insightful perspectives on contemporary public policy issues. Our first edition covers presidential leadership and management, written by Brookings Institute Fellow Elaine Kamarck. To read the first Leadership Insights, click here.

CHAPTER AND SECTION OFFICERS INVITED TO 2014 MID-YEAR MEETING

Chapter and Section officers are invited to participate in ASPA’s Mid-Year Meeting which will take place Sept. 5-7 in Washington, DC. A day dedicated to Chapter and Section issues has been planned. Discussions will group and breakout sessions on officer responsibilities. In addition, attendees will have the opportunity for Chapter and Section Officers to meet peers in similar roles. ASPA CENTER FOR ACCOUNTABILITY & PERFORMANCE OFFERS EQUITY FELLOWSHIP

CAP is offering two fellowships to a practitioner and an academic, to promote work on social equity performance measurement. The fellowship aims to capture the current “state of the field” on social equity performance measurement. The project is based on an inventory of current social equity frameworks, indicator systems, and performance measurement practices by federal, state and local governments. ANNOUNCING ASPA FORUMS

ASPA has launched a new initiative: the ASPA Forums. These face-to-face convenings serve as a medium for the Society to inform the debate on critical policy and policy management issues. The first Forum was held Wednesday, May 14 in Washington, DC. For each forum ASPA will partner with an organization to feature experts on the policy and management issue.

The inaugural forum featured a partnership with the Association for Federal Enterprise Risk Management on “Managing Risk In A Time of Uncertainty: What Executives and Managers Need To Know.” Speakers included risk management expert Thomas Stanton as well as risk managers at the federal level.
