More than 30 hiring public-sector agencies will be at the Fair, looking for the perfect candidates for their job openings, so make sure you bring an updated resume or CV and other application materials so you can be given appropriate consideration.

Hiring Workshops


This year’s Career Fair will also include two special workshops focusing on hiring processes for public servants. Details are as follows:

Workshop 1: LinkedIn for Public Servants
Monday, March 21 | 2:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.
LinkedIn is the largest free professional networking tool available and has more than 340 million members worldwide, yet most people don’t know how to efficiently utilize the technology! This session will cover LinkedIn profile optimization, tips and tricks for using LinkedIn during the job search and a detailed demonstration of how to use the advanced search feature to make LinkedIn work for you. If you’re not LinkedIn, you’re locked out! Participants should create a LinkedIn profile prior to attending the session by visiting

Workshop 2: Getting into Federal Government
Monday, March 21 | 4 p.m. – 5 p.m.
Only nine percent of federal jobs are located in the Washington, D.C., metro area. In fact, most federal agencies have regional offices located throughout the country and there are also 50,000 federal jobs overseas. Many public servants want to work in federal government, but getting a foot in the door at an agency can seem daunting. This session will offer tips and tricks to help you navigate the federal hiring process and connect you with federal contacts who can prepare you for the process and recommend helpful resources.
