The ASPA Endowment, Inc. - Contributing to the Advancement of Excellence in Public Service

What is the ASPA Endowment?

Since its incorporation in 1986, the ASPA Endowment has been building a permanent fund to support the American Society for Public Administration (ASPA) and its goals. The ASPA Endowment is a 501 (c) (3) tax exempt nonprofit corporation.  Endowment funding supports ASPA members, national initiatives, lectures and scholarships, chapter and section activities, and conferences.

How does the ASPA Endowment work?

The ASPA Endowment funds have been created by gifts from individuals, corporations, and foundations.  These gifts are invested in perpetuity for the purpose of generating income to support particular needs of ASPA and to promote public administration in accordance with ASPA mission and goals.  They are invested for both long term growth and consistent income by a professional money manager and are audited annually.

How can I give to support ASPA through the ASPA Endowment?

Gifts to the Endowment may be made to specific funds that are restricted for particular purposes, or to the unrestricted funds of the Endowment that support ASPA goals.  The ASPA Endowment welcomes gifts in any amount.  Both the General Fund and the Honor Roll are unrestricted funds that will be allocated to support different ASPA activities.  Gifts also may be designated to specific established funds, such as those supporting ASPA sections.

The ASPA Endowment Honor Roll is a way to support ASPA while honoring and remembering, those who have touched our lives.   Honor Roll gifts are welcomed in any amount.  When an Honor Roll gift is received, the family of the one being remembered will be notified.

Larger gifts may be made to existing funds, or to create a named fund.  To establish a named fund, a minimum gift of $10,000 is required.

How do I make a gift?

Contributions to the Endowment may take the form of:

  • Gifts of cash, payable by check or credit card;
  • Gifts of securities, stocks, bonds, etc.;
  • Bequests and inclusion in wills; and
  • Life insurance beneficiary designation.

  • Public Service Leader                      $1,000 - $9,999

A graduate student assisted by an academic scholarship from the Endowment said: “the scholarship was integral to my professional development.  It allowed me to continue my government service concurrently with my academic studies.”

As an ASPA member who received financial assistance to attend an ASPA National Conference stated “it enabled me as a new professional to benefit by being directly exposed to public administrators making a difference in our field.”
