- Wildavsky
Award - honoring an academic student of budgeting and financial
management whose work has made a sustained contribution over time
- Howard
Award - recognizing a practitioner in the field whose career has
exemplified excellence
- Student
Award - recognizes a graduate student in public budgeting or finance
for outstanding academic papers

on Ethics
The Ethics Section has three awards that are presented at the ASPA Annual meeting.

Section
on Environmental and Natural Resources Administration (SENRA)
SENRA gives the Annual SENRA Award for the Best Book on Environmental
and Natural Resources Administration.
Section
for International and Comparative Administration (SICA)
The Fred Riggs Award was established by SICA in 1985 to recognize those
who have made significant, substantial, and widely recognized contributions
to the conceptual, theoretical, or operational development of international,
comparative, or development administration. The award is named in honor
of Fred Riggs, a pioneer in these fields and a founder of the section.
The award is made annually at the section's Business Meeting, held in
conjunction with ASPA's annual conference.
The David Gould ASPA Conference Scholarship is named in memory of
David Gould, Ph.D., a former SICA member and long-time professor of Public
Administration at the University of Pittsburgh. Gould was among those killed
in the bombing of Pan AM 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland, on December 21, 1998.
The scholarships are presented to graduate students in the fields of public
administration, public policy, and international development.
Three winners will receive $500 stipends to help defray travel and lodging costs
for the ASPA National Conference, as well as free registration for the Ferrel
Heady Roundtable. Winners will also receive reduced registration fees to the conference.
The 2006 Conference is being held March 31-April 4, in Denver, Colorado.
Gould Scholars must attend to claim their awards.
To apply a candidate must submit a cover letter, resume, nomination letter from a
major professor or academic advisor and an essay addressing the topic: "What roles do international,
comparative public administration professionals play in a post-9-11 world?"

Section
on Intergovernmental Administration and Management (SIAM)
SIAM has three awards which it presents, each named after Donald Stone:
the Stone Practitioner Award, the Stone Scholar Award and the Junior Stone
Award. The first two awards have been given out to distinguished practitioners
and academics every year. The third is presented to a student for an outstanding
paper.

on Public Administration Education (SPAE)
Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania - Curriculum Innovation Award
EventDescription:
ASPA's Section on Public Administration Education has created the Curriculum
Innovation Award, to be presented at the SPAE luncheon and panel at the
APSA's 64th National Conference, March 15-18, 2003, Omni Shoreham Hotel.
The
award recognizes the innovative curriculum of a person or program. ASPA
members are encouraged to nominate a person or program for this award.
Nominations should include a description of the curriculum and supporting
letters from faculty and students.
Deadline

The
Section on Public Administration Research(SPAR)
The American Society for Public Administration's Section on Public Administration
Research(SPAR) is seeking nominations for its third annual book award for public
administration scholarship.
Books
with copyright dates in either 2004 or 2005 are eligible. The book's orientation
may be quantitative, empirical, interpretive, ethnographic, historical, archival,
normative, or theoretical.
Textbooks and edited volumes are not eligible. A maximum of two book nominees
will be considered from any single publisher.
Evaluative criteria include
outstanding accomplishment of the research objectives, high-quality writing,
and potential to constitute a lasting contribution to the public
administration literature.
The
winner of the award will receive a plaque, a small honorarium, and notice
published in the American Review of Public Administration. The award will
be presented at the SPAR section meeting in Denver at the 2006 ASPA Conference.
Nominations, including a short justification relative to the above criteria, should be

Section
on Transportation Policy and Administration (STPA)
STPA presents the Lawrence J. Truitt Award each year for outstanding achievements
in the teaching or practice of transportation policy and administration.
Section
for Women in Public Administration (SWPA)
SWPA has the honor of presenting three annual awards as part of its mission
to promote and support women in the profession. These awards are presented
at the SWPA Awards Breakfast during the ASPA national conference.
Joan
Fiss Bishop Award: This award honors an ASPA leader, Joan Fiss Bishop,
whose career accomplishments are reflected in the award criteria: 1) the
extent of the nominee's contribution to increased involvement by women
in the public sector; 2) the innovative leadership and accomplished professionalism
in the nominee's own public sector career; and 3) the commitment of the
nominee to the public administration profession as evidenced by membership
in ASPA.
Distinguished
Research Award: This award recognizes outstanding research contributions
to gender-related issues. The nominee does not have to be a member of
SWPA or as ASPA but is someone who: 1) performed research on an issue
significant to the role of women in public administration; 2) made an
impact through that research on women's lives; and 3) raised other significant
concerns that could affect women's lives.
Julia
Henderson Service to the Section Award: This award recognizes outstanding
members who have contributed to the success and functioning of the Section
for Women in Public Administration. Awardees must: 1) have served SWPA
for several years; 2) have made an impact on SWPA; and 3) be a member
of SWPA.
