Section
on Environmental and Natural Resources Administration (SENRA)
SENRA gives the Annual SENRA Award for the Best Book on Environmental
and Natural Resources Administration.
Section
for International and Comparative Administration (SICA)
The Fred Riggs Award was established by SICA in 1985 to recognize those
who have made significant, substantial, and widely recognized contributions
to the conceptual, theoretical, or operational development of international,
comparative, or development administration. The award is named in honor
of Fred Riggs, a pioneer in these fields and a founder of the section.
The award is made annually at the section's Business Meeting, held in
conjunction with ASPA's annual conference.
The David Gould ASPA Conference Scholarship is named in memory of
David Gould, Ph.D., a former SICA member and long-time professor of Public
Administration at the University of Pittsburgh. Gould was among those killed
in the bombing of Pan AM 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland, on December 21, 1998.
The scholarships are presented to graduate students in the fields of public
administration, public policy, and international development.
Three winners will receive $500 stipends to help defray travel and lodging costs
for the ASPA National Conference, as well as free registration for the Ferrel
Heady Roundtable. Winners will also receive reduced registration fees to the conference.
The 2006 Conference is being held March 31-April 4, in Denver, Colorado.
Gould Scholars must attend to claim their awards.
To apply a candidate must submit a cover letter, resume, nomination letter from a
major professor or academic advisor and an essay addressing the topic: "What roles do international,
comparative public administration professionals play in a post-9-11 world?"

Section
on Intergovernmental Administration and Management (SIAM)
SIAM has three awards which it presents, each named after Donald Stone:
the Stone Practitioner Award, the Stone Scholar Award and the Junior Stone
Award. The first two awards have been given out to distinguished practitioners
and academics every year. The third is presented to a student for an outstanding
paper.

on Public Administration Education (SPAE)
Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania - Curriculum Innovation Award
EventDescription:
ASPA's Section on Public Administration Education has created the Curriculum
Innovation Award, to be presented at the SPAE luncheon and panel at the
APSA's 64th National Conference, March 15-18, 2003, Omni Shoreham Hotel.
The
award recognizes the innovative curriculum of a person or program. ASPA
members are encouraged to nominate a person or program for this award.
Nominations should include a description of the curriculum and supporting
letters from faculty and students.
Deadline
for applications is January 1, 2003. Nominations should be submitted to:

Section on Public Administration Research (SPAR)
The
American Society for Public Administration’s Section on Public
Administration Research (SPAR) is seeking nominations for its fifth annual
book award for public administration scholarship.
Books with
copyright dates in either 2007 or 2008 are eligible. The book’s orientation
may be quantitative, empirical, interpretive, ethnographic, historical,
archival, normative or theoretical.
Textbooks
and edited volumes are not eligible. A maximum of two book nominees will be
considered from any single publisher.
Evaluative
criteria include outstanding accomplishment of the research objectives,
high-quality writing, and potential to constitute a lasting contribution to
the public administration literature.
The winner
of the award will receive a plaque, a small honorarium, and notice published
in the American Review of Public Administration. The award will be presented
at the SPAR section meeting in Miami at the 2009 ASPA conference.
Nominations, including a short justification relative to the above criteria,
