What's
New at ASPA Internationally
- ASPA Strengthens Relationship with European Counterpart, Selects Secretariat! ASPA's Executive Committee recently voted to approve an update of ASPA's Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the European Group of Public Administration (EGPA). EGPA and ASPA will work together to elevate the practice and study of public administration, provide perspective to scholars and practitioners across the Atlantic, and improve performance by sharing best practices regarding public awareness and communication, dissemination of research and fund raising. The new MOU, when signed, will replace an agreement from 1993.In addition, the Executive Committee selected Rutgers University-Newark to serve as the Secretariat for the ASPA-EGPA MOU.
- Frontiers of Public Administration: Proceedings of the Second Sino-U.S. International Conference: "Public Administration in the Changing World" held in 2004 in Beijing, China are available.
The proceedings can be downloaded here (PDF Format).
- ASPA President Harvey L. White has appointed National Council representatives Larry R. Jones and David C. Broom as International Co-Coordinators for 2007-2008. They replace Patria deLancer Julnes. deLancer Julnes had served as ASPA International Coordinator since 2006.
- At its April 4, 2006 meeting, ASPA's National Council voted to approve an MOU between ASPA and the Free State Society for Public Administration and Governance (FRESPAG) in South Africa. ASPA will now begin the process of finding a partner organization to assist in coordinating the MOU with FRESPAG. Interested ASPA chapters, sections, or universities should refer to the RFP below.
- The minutes of the April 2006 ASPA International Consortium meeting in Denver, Colorado are now available.
- 2005-2006 ASPA International Coordinator, Donald E. Klingner, recently published the 2006 ASPA International Annual Report. You can read the report here.
- In addition, several MOU reports are now available from US Secretariats. ASPA Sections have also reported in about their international activities.
- ASPA is pleased to announce an agreement has been signed with the Chinese Association for International Exchange of Personnel (CAIEP) to develop training and technical assistance programs. CAIEP is a nationwide and government sponsored institution engaged in the international exchange of specialized technical and managerial personnel. Its main tasks are to invite foreign experts to work in China, designate Chinese managerial and technical personnel to go abroad for practical training, assist Chinese and foreign organizations in developing friendly exchange and business relations, and arrange for foreign friends to engage in research, training and study in China. The aim of the Association is to promote exchange and cooperation between China and other countries in industry, agriculture, finance, science and technology, education, medicine and culture, through the international exchange of personnel, so as to contribute to China's reform, opening up and modernization as well as to the advance of human civilization in general.

UNPAN
The United Nations (UN) has selected ASPA to participate in a network
of associations throughout the world to share knowledge, experiences
and best practices in sound public policies, effective public
administration and efficient civil services. ASPA is one of the UN's
four North American partners in the Global Online Network on Public
Administration and Finance (UNPAN).
