Public Service Recognition Week 2005

Public Service Recognition Week, celebrated the first Monday through Sunday in May since 1985, is a time set aside each year to honor the men and women who serve America as federal, state and local government employees. Throughout the nation and around the world, public employees use the week to educate citizens about the many ways in which government serves the people and how government services make life better for all of us.

Every year, ASPA chapters across the country hold awards banquets and other programs to celebrate Public Service Recognition Week.

A Message from ASPA President Donald C. Menzel
Dear ASPA Members,

Public Service Recognition Week is here. Please join with me in celebrating the nobility and rewards of public service. Public administration is public service at its finest. Our colleagues make a difference, day-in and day-out, in the life of our community and nation.

Tell your co-workers, friends, and family that you are proud to be a public servant--that competent, ethical public administration is the bedrock of our democracy. Our profession is noble and essential.

Be humble but proud in the work you do and the message you convey to the world!

Don
