ASPA offers a variety of membership to suit the various individuals comprising public administration—students, those in the beginning years of their careers, those on a career path, retirees—as well as those who want hard-copy publications mailed to them vs. those who would rather only receive electronic communications. Each of these categories are outlined below. Please review the descriptions and click on the link to fill out the appropriate membership application.

Membership is on a 12-month rolling basis.

Individual Membership

An individual membership is open to any public sector individual or other interested party. Federal civil servants, city managers, local/state administrators, professors and others are all welcome to join. Fee: $145. Click here to access the application. 


Electronic Member

Electronic members receive the same benefits as individual members—they simply receive all of their benefits electronically. Copies of Public Administration Review, PA TIMES magazine, annual reports, e-newsletters and other printed materials will all be delivered electronically. Fee: $120. New Professional Member

If you've been out of school for three years or less—or have been working in public administration for less than three years—this category is for you! Created to accommodate those who may have a lower salary, you are only eligible for this membership category for a brief window, so join now and make the most of the benefits! New Professional Members receive the same benefits as all other member categories. Fee: $80. Click here to access the application. 

Student Members

Student members are as they sound—students currently and actively working on their degrees! You'll receive all communications from ASPA in electronic format, including Public Administration Review , PA TIMES magazine, annual reports, e-newsletters and more. (Keep reading if you want to receive hard-copy materials.) Fee: $70. Click here to access the application. 
Please note: individuals applying in this category must provide their university/college on their membership category. You may be a student member for a maximum of three years, after which your member category will automatically change.

Retired Members

This is a special membership category for public administrators and scholars who have retired from full-time employment. Federal civil servants, city managers, local/state administrators, professors and others are all eligible for this category. Fee: $95. Click here to access the application.

Non-OECD Country Membership

Individuals who are from a country that is not a member of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and have never been an ASPA member before may be eligible for a discounted member rate.
