Free Databases on the Open Web

USA.gov, the U.S. government's official web portal for the public to access government information and services on the web. It organizes its searchable content/pages by topics, departments and agencies, etc.

FDsys, formerly GPO Access, provides free electronic access to the official government publications from all three branches of the Federal Government. The database offers advanced search, browse by collection and agency, and download in multiple file formats.

MetaLib, a federated search engine by GPO, that simultaneously searches across multiple U.S. Federal government databases, retrieves reports, articles, and citations with direct links to selected resources available online.

Homeland Security Digital Library contains non-classified Presidential directives and policy, strategy, and organizational management documents as well as specialized resources related to Homeland Security.  Some material free on the open Web.  Complete access available through depository libraries.

National Climatic Data Center Online Document Library offers free access to several otherwise fee-based climatological data sets.

Public Health Reports, the bi-monthly peer-reviewed journal of the U.S. Public Health Service published by Association of Schools of Public Health covering subject areas of public health practice, research, and viewpoints/commentaries.

USA Trade® Online, an online resource providing current and cumulative U.S. export and import data for over 18,000 export commodities and 24,000 import commodities.
