Description of the List

Publishers on this list are those who publish textbooks or academic book in the field of public administration and public affairs. Three criteria are considered when involving these publishers. The first is that publishers should have published books about public administration and public affairs; the second is that books of these publishers have good reputation based on authors, selling amount and readers' comments (which are collected from; the last standard is the global rank of the publishers in 2013 listed by Publishers Weekly. Therefore, publishers below are regarded as famous publishers who produce high quality books about public administration and public affairs in the world. Not only in English, some publishers produce academic books in other language, such as Chinese and Korean, are also included in this list. Publishers below are listed alphabetically.

China Renmin University Press
China Renmin University Press was established in 1955. It is the first college press developed after the Peoples' Republic of China was founded. China Renmin University Press is also one of China's most important bases for publishing college textbooks and academic words of humanities and social sciences.

China Social Science Press

Established in June, 1978, China Social Sciences Press is sponsored by Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. CSSP is a national level publishing house focusing on academic publications mainly in the field of humanities and social sciences. In 1993, CSSP won the honorary title of “national outstanding press” granted by Propaganda Department of CPC and General Administration of Press and Publication.

Chinese Academy of Governance Press
Chinese Academy of Governance (previously named China National School of Administration) was born in the surging tide of reform and opening up, and it constantly developed as the cause of socialism with Chinese characteristics progressed. It was decided at the Thirteenth National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) in 1987 and at the First Session of the National People’s Congress in 1988 to create a national civil service system and establish the Chinese Academy of Governance. Preparatory work on the academy began in 1988, and it was formally established in 1994.

Columbia University Press
Columbia University Press was founded in 1893 and is the fourth-oldest university press in the United States. The purpose of the press expressed in its Certificate of Incorporation is to "promote the study of economic, historical, literary, scientific and other subjects and to promote and encourage the publication of literary works embodying original research in such subjects."

CQ Press
CQ Press, a division of SAGE Publications, publishes books, directories, periodicals, and electronic products on American government and politics, with an expanding list in international affairs and journalism and mass communication.

CRC Press
CRC Press, a premier global publisher of scientific, technical, and medical content, provides essential material for academics, professionals, and students. Farrar, Straus and Giroux

Farrar, Straus and Company was founded in 1946 by Roger W. Straus and John C. Farrar. In 1964 Robert Giroux's name was added to the roster and the company became Farrar, Straus and Giroux. Free Press
Free Press was a book publishing imprint of Simon and Schuster. It was one of the best-known imprints specializing in serious nonfiction. In 2012, it ceased to exist as a distinct imprint entity and merged into Simon & Schuster, the company's flagship imprint; however, some books would still be published using the Free Press imprimatur.

Fudan University Press (FUP), established in May of 1981, is a comprehensive academic publishing house of key importance under the Ministry of Education of PRC.
