Description of the List

Publishers on this list are those who publish textbooks or academic book in the field of public administration and public affairs. Three criteria are considered when involving these publishers. The first is that publishers should have published books about public administration and public affairs; the second is that books of these publishers have good reputation based on authors, selling amount and readers' comments (which are collected from Amazon.com); the last standard is the global rank of the publishers in 2013 listed by Publishers Weekly. Therefore, publishers below are regarded as famous publishers who produce high quality books about public administration and public affairs in the world. Not only in English, some publishers produce academic books in other language, such as Chinese and Korean, are also included in this list. Publishers below are listed alphabetically.

Chinese Academy of Governance Press
Chinese Academy of Governance (previously named China National School of Administration) was born in the surging tide of reform and opening up, and it constantly developed as the cause of socialism with Chinese characteristics progressed. It was decided at the Thirteenth National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) in 1987 and at the First Session of the National People’s Congress in 1988 to create a national civil service system and establish the Chinese Academy of Governance. Preparatory work on the academy began in 1988, and it was formally established in 1994.

Columbia University Press was founded in 1893 and is the fourth-oldest university press in the United States. Free Press
Free Press was a book publishing imprint of Simon and Schuster. It was one of the best-known imprints specializing in serious nonfiction.
